About This Route
This is one of the most heavily traveled seasonal routes in the country, largely following Interstate 75 south through Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and the length of Florida. It’s often called the “snowbird route,” named for the wave of Midwesterners who drive it every fall to spend winter in Florida’s warmer climate, then reverse the trip each spring. The route crosses from Central to Eastern time, so travelers gain an hour heading into Florida.
